The third RIAT+/SHERPA Training Course was taken place on the 5th of October 2017 at Ispra. It has been organized by the JRC and speakers come from JRC, Terraria and University of Brescia.

The second RIAT+ training course
The second RIAT+ Training Course was taken place on the 9th and 10th of June 2016 at Ispra. It has been organized by the JRC and speakers come both from JRC and Terraria. Twentyfive participants coming from various European countries attened the Course.
The training focused on the use of the SHERPA and RIAT+ tools. Both tools have been developed with the aim of supporting national, regional and local authorities in the design and assessment of their air quality plans (see brief description of the tools below). The objectives of the training was to get familiar with both tools and practically apply them on the participant's region of interest.
During the course also the new features of RIAT+ was showed. In order to make increasingly used by users and decision makers and to allow the immediate use of SHERPA database (called RIAT+ First Guess) TerrAria developed:
- a more and more friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface)
- a new technology to visualize the output maps
- new parts in a lot of GUI to allow using SHERPA databases (emissions, measures and Source/Receptor functions)
The SHERPA and RIAT+ tools are can be used by regional / local authorities to support the analytical activities necessary to construct an air quality plan. In particular SHERPA is a screening tool that allows rapid exploration of potential improvements in air quality resulting from the reduction measures of national/regional/local emissions and RIAT+ is able to identify what are the good measures to improve the air quality of a given region.
